Our Services

Low vision & rehabilitation service

The Medical City South Luzon Eye Center’s Low Vision and Rehabilitation Service sees patients of all ages who have impaired vision suffering from acquired, congenital or hereditary eye conditions.

The goal of management is to have their remaining useful vision enhanced based on desired tasks.

What do we do?

  • First, determine the best visual acuity and refractions.
  • Second, assess contrast and sensitivity, glare, and visual field components.
  • Third, determine the magnification requirements.
  • Fourth, trial of various types of magnifying aids including some electronic magnifiers and lighting systems.
  • Finally, recommendations and/or referrals to instructors for the visually impaired – daily living skills, orientation and mobility, psychosocial and occupational therapy.

The service issues certification needed for government and non-government assistance, also letters and recommendations for school, work and driving.

Pediatric ophthalmology & strabismus

Is your child complaining of poor eyesight, headaches, or you see them squint or read sideways?

This can simply be an error of refraction or EOR. However, it can also be caused by Lazy Eye, Squint, Cataracts, and other conditions that need a thorough examination and management. A pair of glasses would not totally relieve their condition.

The TMCSL Eye Center’s Section Of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus has trained doctors and offers modern facilities and technology for your child’s eye care needs. We offer a full range of Eye Care Services, from basic to advanced treatment of Eye Problems like Myopia, Amblyopia, Ptosis, Squint, Cataracts and other congenital conditions. We offer Vision Screening, Refraction, Myopia Progression Control, Ptosis and Squint Surgeries.

Recommended Eye Examination Frequency For The Pediatric Patient Based On The American Optometric Association Clinical Practice Guidelines:

  • From Birth To 2 Years Of Age – At 6 To 12 Months Of Age
  • From 3 Through 5 Years Of Age- At Least Once
  • From 6 Through 18 Years Of Age- Before First Grade And Yearly Thereafter, and more frequent as advised by the Ophthalmologist for Higher Risk Patients.

Vitreo-retina service

The Vitreo-Retina Service of The Medical City South Luzon Eye Center does procedures like Intravitreal Injections for certain conditions such as Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Pan Retinal Photocoagulation Laser Treatment for Advanced Cases of Diabetic Retinopathy, Vitreo-Retina Surgery which includes Pars Plana Vitrectomy for Retinal Detachment, and Screening for other Inherited or Acquired Retinal Pathologies.

We provide the following services at TMC-SL Eye Center to assess the integrity and health of the Retina, namely.

  • Fundus Photo – allows quick capture of Retinal images for preliminary examination
  • Fluorescein Angiogram – useful in determining the blood flow within small vessels in the eye
  • B-Scan Ultrasound – non-invasive tool to assess eyes with media opacities such as Corneal Opacities, Vitreous Hemorrhage and Dense Cataracts
  • Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) – uses light waves to image a histologic view of the Retina to assess the microscopic structures of the eye
  • Panretinal Photocoagulation – a treatment modality for advanced Diabetic Retinopathy among others

Oculoplastic lacrimal & aesthetic eye surgery

Oculoplastic Surgeons are Ophthalmologists trained in managing disorders of the Lids, Lashes, And Lacrimal (Tear) Gland and Drainage System. Lid Malposition, Lumps And Bumps, Tearing, Trauma (Facial Fractures And Burns), and certain cancers around and even behind the eye fall under this category. These can happen to patients of any age, for any number of reasons.

Patients with Thyroid Problems should also be seen by an Oculoplastic Surgeon: Bulging, Red, and Irritated Eyes are common symptoms in Thyroid Eye Disease (TED). Without close monitoring, TED can lead to Loss Of Vision.

Ask your Oculoplastic Surgeon about Aesthetic Services, too. Brow and Lid Lifts for Ptosis (Droopy Eyelids), Blepharoplasty (Removal of Excess Skin in the upper eyelids, and eyebags in the lower), Double Eyelid Surgery, and Botox Injection for Wrinkles and Skin Tightening are just some of the rejuvenation procedures that they do.
