The Medical City South Luzon Kidney and Stone Center offers a non-invasive procedure known as Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy (ESWL) treatment using the state-of-the-art equipment, the Dornier Compact Sigma. This treatment targets the specific location of the stone and delivers high frequency shockwaves with the help of X-Ray or Ultrasound. The procedure is performed on an out-patient basis except for extreme cases that require admission. With ESWL, recovery is fast and there is no scarring.
The Kidney and Stone Center team is comprised of highly skilled Urologists, Anesthesiologists, Nurses, and Radiologic Technologists who work synchronously to ensure a safe and successful procedure.

WHAT TO EXPECT:
-The pain is usually described as a dull aches or soreness over the kidney.
-Slight dizziness or sedation during and/or after the procedure due to anesthesia.
-Blood in the urine for a day or two after ESWL.
